That’s how Romanian conductor Gabriel Bebeşelea, whose baton will open this year’s Festival Maribor, describes his artistic philosophy. And the Fireworks of Rhythm and Emotions programme, which will help us discover new and intriguing parallels in the music of Marij Kogoj, Franz Liszt, George Enescu and Zoltán Kodály, resonates with it perfectly.

It perfectly summarizes not just our first concert, but the festival as a whole! To have live contact with each other, be together, socialize, share emotions and and exchange opinions – weren’t these the exact things we missed the most during the lockdown? Due to unexpected family situation Daniel Müller-Schott can’t join us in Maribor. However, the Do you still like Brahms programme remains unchanged, thanks to kind gesture of Bulgarian virtuoso Alexander Somov, Violoncelle Super Soliste of the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra. The Bulgarian virtuoso, who is a highly appreciated and sought-after chamber musician, regularly performs with Simon Trpčeski. His chamber music partners also include Thomas Zehetmair, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Tasmin Little, Boris Garlitsky, John York, Nathan Williamson, Bogdana Popova, Lucy Jeal and Venera Bojkova.
