Žiga Trilar studied the contrabass in the class of Prof. Zoran Marković at the Ljubljana Academy of Music, graduating summa cum laude. He then furthered his studies with Matthew McDonald, Sławomir Grend, Herbert Mayr, Iztok Hrastnik and others. When he was a student, he successfully auditioned for the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, with which he undertook three international tours.As a chamber musician, he collaborates with many renowned musicians, such as Mate Bekavac, Andrej Žust, Matic Kuder, Jaka Stadler and Matjaž Bogataj. He currently serves as the principal double bassist of the Symphony Orchestra of the Slovene National Theatre Maribor and teaches at the Maribor Conservatory of Music and Ballet.
